# Creations3D > Creations3D turns a text description or a photo into a 3D model file at real size: GLB for games and the web, STL and 3MF for 3D printing, OBJ, and FBX for quad models. People use it on the website or from their AI assistant through a remote MCP server. This file (llms-full.txt) is the Creations3D agent guide and every public page in one plain-text document. ## MCP server Remote MCP endpoint (Streamable HTTP): https://creations3d.com/mcp - `create_model`: Create one model, or a batch of up to 20, from a description or an HTTPS or data image. Uses credits. Options: use_for (web, game, print, render), style, target_size with units (mm, cm, m) for the largest side, max_triangles, texture_size, quad. - `get_model`: Read status, preview and signed download links. Can wait up to 50 seconds and refreshes expired links. - `wait_for_models`: Wait up to 50 seconds for a batch; returns as soon as any pending model finishes. - `list_models`: List your models, newest first, with a cursor for the next page. - `export_model`: Export GLB, geometry-only OBJ, STL or 3MF (original FBX when a quad mesh was built). Print files use millimetres and are automatically repaired; the print report says whether the repair produced one closed solid. - `account`: Read remaining credits and the credit cost of each kind of model. ## Sign-in - Browser sign-in (OAuth): Claude, ChatGPT, Claude Code, Codex, Cursor sign in with the user's Creations3D email when the server is added. No API key needed. Discovery: https://creations3d.com/.well-known/oauth-protected-resource/mcp. - API key: for scripts, CI or tools without browser sign-in, the account owner creates a key in Account, API keys, and sends it as `Authorization: Bearer c3d_sk_...`. The same API key works with the REST API: `GET` and `POST https://creations3d.com/api/generations` (list and create; JSON with prompt or imageUrl, use_for, target_size, units), `GET` and `DELETE https://creations3d.com/api/generations/{id}`, and `GET https://creations3d.com/api/account` for credits. Reference: https://creations3d.com/docs/api. ## Credits Building models uses credits from a Creations3D plan. New accounts start with a $1, 7-day trial with 40 credits; plans run from $20 to $100 a month. Plans are started and managed by the account owner on the website, never through the MCP tools. Full prices: https://creations3d.com/pricing.md. - Game-ready model (light GLB): 4 credits - Model from a photo: 6 credits - Standard model (printing and renders): 8 credits - Resizing and exporting to STL, 3MF or OBJ: free ## Good to know - A model usually takes about 1.5 minutes once it starts; queueing can add a few minutes. At most two models per account are worked on at once. - GLB files use metres; STL and 3MF use millimetres. - Download links are signed and expire after 15 minutes. Call get_model or export_model for fresh ones. - USDZ is not available. Wall thickness and print overhangs are not checked. - If a build fails, its credits go back to the account automatically. --- > Creations3D for agents: https://creations3d.com/llms.txt lists every public page as Markdown and https://creations3d.com/docs documents the MCP server (https://creations3d.com/mcp) and the REST API. # Describe it. Exact commands, prompts and credit costs. ## Quickstart: your first 3D model in 2 minutes C3D-DOCS-01 · REV A [Docs](https://creations3d.com/docs) · Updated 28 October 2026 **To make your first Creations3D model, connect the MCP server to your assistant and ask for an object with a size, or send one REST call with an API key.** Either way the model is usually ready about 1.5 minutes after it starts, as a GLB in metres at the size you asked for. ### Before you start - A Creations3D account with credits. New accounts start with a $1, 7-day trial with 40 credits (see [pricing](https://creations3d.com/pricing)). A game-ready model costs 4 credits and a standard one 8. - For the MCP path: an assistant that supports remote MCP servers. For the REST path: a terminal with curl. ### Path 1: from your assistant (MCP) 1. Add the server `https://creations3d.com/mcp` to your assistant. In Claude Code that is one command: `claude mcp add --transport http --scope user creations3d https://creations3d.com/mcp` Other assistants: [Claude](https://creations3d.com/connect/claude), [ChatGPT](https://creations3d.com/connect/chatgpt), [Codex](https://creations3d.com/connect/codex), [Cursor](https://creations3d.com/connect/cursor). 2. Sign in with your Creations3D email when the assistant opens the browser. No API key is needed. 3. Ask: "Make a low-poly treasure chest, 1 m wide, for my game." The assistant calls `create_model` with use_for game, target_size 1 and units m. 4. When the model is ready the assistant shows a download link. Ask for "the STL" or "a 3MF" and it calls `export_model`; exports are free. In a coding agent, ask it to save the GLB into your project. ### Path 2: from a script (REST) 1. On the website, open Account, API keys and create a key. Store it as CREATIONS3D_API_KEY. 2. Create the model. The response is `202` with the model's `id` and status queued: ``` curl -s -X POST https://creations3d.com/api/generations \ -H "Authorization: Bearer $CREATIONS3D_API_KEY" \ -H "Content-Type: application/json" \ -d '{"prompt":"low-poly treasure chest","use_for":"game","target_size":1,"units":"m"}' ``` 3. Poll until it is ready or failed, then read it once more: ``` ID="YOUR_MODEL_ID" # the id from the create response until curl -s https://creations3d.com/api/generations/$ID \ -H "Authorization: Bearer $CREATIONS3D_API_KEY" | grep -qE '"status":"(ready|failed)"'; do sleep 5 done curl -s https://creations3d.com/api/generations/$ID -H "Authorization: Bearer $CREATIONS3D_API_KEY" ``` 4. Download `modelUrl` within 15 minutes; read the model again for a fresh link. `dimensions` gives the size and its units. ### What next - [MCP server reference](https://creations3d.com/docs/mcp): every tool, field and error. - [REST API reference](https://creations3d.com/docs/api): every endpoint, with photo uploads and error codes. - [Load the GLB in three.js](https://creations3d.com/guides/threejs-glb-from-text), or [get a printable STL](https://creations3d.com/guides/chatgpt-stl-for-3d-printing). It speaks MCP over Streamable HTTP, signs people in with OAuth (or takes an API key), and has six tools: `create_model`, `get_model`, `wait_for_models`, `list_models`, `export_model` and `account`. Nothing is installed locally. For setup in a specific assistant, see [Connect your assistant](https://creations3d.com/connect); for a first run, see the [quickstart](https://creations3d.com/docs/quickstart). ### Endpoint and transport - URL: `https://creations3d.com/mcp` - Transport: Streamable HTTP, stateless. The endpoint answers GET, POST and DELETE, and allows cross-origin requests. - Server name: creations3d (title Creations3D). Requests can be up to 16 MB, which matters for photos sent as data URLs. ### Sign-in There are two ways to authenticate. Both act as the same Creations3D account, with its library and credits. 1. **OAuth (browser sign-in).** Add the URL to your client with no key. The first call returns `401` with a `WWW-Authenticate` header that points to `https://creations3d.com/.well-known/oauth-protected-resource/mcp`. That document names the authorization server and the scopes (openid, profile, email, offline_access). The client opens a browser, the person signs in with their Creations3D email, and the client sends the access token as `Authorization: Bearer ...` on every call. 2. **API key.** For clients without browser sign-in, scripts or CI: the account owner creates a key on the website in Account, API keys, and the client sends `Authorization: Bearer c3d_sk_...`. Keys are made and revoked only on the website, never through MCP. Browser cookies are never accepted at the MCP endpoint, so every request needs one of these two tokens. ### Tools #### create_model Creates one model, or a batch of up to 20, and charges credits when it is accepted. It returns straight away with the model queued, unless you pass `wait_seconds`. A model usually takes about 1.5 minutes once it starts. A description goes straight to a 3D model: there is no preview picture step over MCP. | Field | Type | Notes | | --- | --- | --- | | `prompt` | string | What to build, up to 1,000 characters. Give a prompt, an image_url, or both. | | `image_url` | string | A public HTTPS image URL, or a data URL (PNG, JPEG or WebP, under 10 MB). Builds the model from the photo. | | `use_for` | web \| game \| print \| render | What the model is for. Default web. Sets the default triangle budget and texture size (below). | | `style` | string | Optional style, up to 200 characters. | | `target_size` | number | Size of the largest side, in units. Positive, at most 1,000,000. | | `units` | mm \| cm \| m | Units for target_size. Default m. | | `max_triangles` | integer | Triangle budget, 1,000 to 500,000. | | `texture_size` | 512 \| 1024 \| 2048 | Texture size in pixels. | | `quad` | boolean | Ask for a quad mesh. Default false. It takes effect for a prompt with no image_url (any use_for) and for use_for game; a photo with use_for web, print or render ignores it. Check sourceUrl on the ready model: only then can the original quad FBX be exported. | | `batch` | array of 1 to 20 | Each item takes the fields above. When batch is given, it is used instead of the top-level fields. | | `wait_seconds` | integer | 0 to 50, default 0. Waits for a single model to finish before returning. | Default triangle budget and texture size by use_for: | use_for | Triangles | Texture | Credits | | --- | --- | --- | --- | | web | 50,000 | 1024 | 8 | | game | 5,000 | 1024 | 4 | | print | 200,000 | 1024 | 8 | | render | 500,000 | 2048 | 8 | A model from a photo costs 6 credits whatever use_for is. A single model returns the model object (below). A batch returns `{ models: [...] }`, where an item that could not be accepted is `{ error, retryable }` and the others still go ahead. Example call: ``` { "name": "create_model", "arguments": { "prompt": "chibi dragon figurine", "use_for": "print", "target_size": 50, "units": "mm", "wait_seconds": 50 } } ``` #### get_model Reads one model: status, preview and signed download links. Fields: `id` (required) and `wait_seconds` (0 to 50, default 0) to wait while it is queued or being built. Calling it again refreshes expired links. Returns the model object. #### wait_for_models Waits for a batch. Fields: `ids` (1 to 20 model ids) and `timeout` (0 to 50 seconds, default 0). It returns `{ models: [...] }` as soon as any model that was pending when the call began finishes, or when the timeout runs out. Call it again for the rest. #### list_models Lists your models, newest first. Fields: `limit` (1 to 100, default 20) and `cursor` (a model id from the previous page). Returns `{ models: [...], nextCursor }`; `nextCursor` is null on the last page. #### export_model Makes a file from a ready model. Exports are free and are made once, then reused. | Field | Type | Notes | | --- | --- | --- | | `id` | string | A model with status ready. | | `format` | glb \| stl \| 3mf \| obj \| fbx | Default glb. OBJ is geometry only. FBX is the original quad mesh and exists only when the model has a sourceUrl (see quad); otherwise it returns an error. usdz is accepted by the schema but returns an error: USDZ is not available. | | `max_triangles` | integer | GLB only, 1,000 to 500,000: an optimised lighter copy. | | `flat_base` | boolean | STL and 3MF. Default true: cuts and caps a shallow 0.2% bottom slice so the model sits flat, keeping the largest size. | Returns `id`, `format`, `url` (signed, expires in 900 seconds), `expiresInSeconds`, `resourceUri`, `triangles`, `fileSizeBytes`, `dimensions`, `previewUrl` and `printReport`. STL and 3MF are in millimetres and are automatically repaired. The print report says whether the repair produced one closed solid: `watertight`, `bodies`, `boundaryEdges`, `nonManifoldEdges`, `volume`, `repairSucceeded` and a note. Wall thickness and overhangs are not analysed. [File formats, units and print reports](https://creations3d.com/docs/formats) lists every report field, and the [ChatGPT STL for 3D printing guide](https://creations3d.com/guides/chatgpt-stl-for-3d-printing) shows a real report. #### account No fields. Returns `credits`, `plan`, `subscriptionStatus`, `periodEnd`, `creditPools`, the credit cost of each kind of model as `costs`, and `accountUrl`. Plans and keys are managed on the website, and no tool returns a payment link. ### The model object | Field | Type | Notes | | --- | --- | --- | | `id` | string | Model id, used by every other tool. | | `status` | string | queued, processing, ready or failed. | | `mode` | text \| image | Built from a description or from a photo. | | `useFor` | string | web, game, print or render. | | `title` | string | Short title made from the prompt. | | `prompt` | string \| null | The description you sent. | | `format` | string | glb. | | `modelUrl` | string \| null | Signed GLB download link once ready. Expires after 15 minutes. | | `previewUrl` | string \| null | The photo you supplied, for photo models. Always null for text models made over MCP. | | `pageUrl` | string | The model's page on the website. | | `sourceUrl, sourceFormat` | string \| null | The original quad FBX, when a quad mesh was built (see quad above). Null otherwise. | | `dimensions` | object \| null | Size of the model: x, y, z and units. | | `triangles, fileSizeBytes` | number \| null | Mesh size of the GLB. | | `creditsUsed` | number | Credits charged for this model. | | `error, retryable, retryAfterSeconds` | | Set when the model failed, or tells you when to check again while it is still being built. | | `createdAt, completedAt` | string \| null | ISO timestamps. | ### Resources - `creations3d://models/{id}/{format}` and `creations3d://models/{id}/{format}{?flat_base,max_triangles}`: the exported file itself, base64 encoded, for clients that read MCP resources instead of following links. export_model returns the matching URI. - An interactive 3D viewer that clients supporting MCP Apps show beside create_model and get_model results. ### Credits - Game-ready model (use_for game): 4 credits - Standard model (web, print or render): 8 credits - Model from a photo: 6 credits - Exports and resizing: free Credits are taken when a model is accepted and go back automatically if the build fails. See [pricing](https://creations3d.com/pricing) for plans. ### Limits - At most two models per account are built at once; the rest wait in the queue. A busy service queues work instead of rejecting it. - Download links expire after 15 minutes. get_model and export_model give fresh ones. - Prompts up to 1,000 characters; photos PNG, JPEG or WebP under 10 MB, from a public HTTPS URL or a data URL. - Exports to STL, 3MF or OBJ are refused for meshes above 500,000 triangles; ask for a lower max_triangles. - No USDZ. Glass, emission, wall thickness and overhangs are not guaranteed. ### Errors A tool error comes back as a normal tool result with `isError: true` and three fields: `error` (a plain sentence), `retryable` and `retryAfterSeconds`. Internal errors are never passed through; you get "The service is temporarily unavailable. Retry shortly." with retryable true. ``` { "isError": true, "structuredContent": { "error": "This needs 8 credits; you have 3.", "retryable": false, "retryAfterSeconds": null } } ``` - "Provide a prompt or reference image.", "Prompt exceeds 1000 characters.": fix the input. - "This needs N credits; you have M.": the account is out of credits. The owner adds credits on the website. - "Model is not ready yet.": export after the status is ready (retryable, retry after 5 seconds). - "Another model is being processed. Retry shortly.": an export is waiting its turn (retryable). - "Model not found.": the id is wrong or belongs to another account. At the HTTP level, a missing or invalid token gets `401` with `invalid_token`, and a request over 16 MB gets `413`. Exports are free and are made once, then reused. USDZ is not available. ### Formats | Format | Units and axes | What it is for | | --- | --- | --- | | GLB | Metres, Y up (glTF) | Web, three.js, Unity, Godot, Blender. Textured. The file every model starts as. | | STL | Millimetres, Z up | Any slicer. Geometry only, automatic repair, flat base by default. | | 3MF | Millimetres (stored in the file), Z up | Slicers that read units, such as Bambu Studio and PrusaSlicer. Same geometry and repair as STL. | | OBJ | The units you asked for, Y up | Blender and most 3D apps. Geometry only. | | FBX | As built | The original quad mesh for editing or rigging. Only for models built as quads: quad on, with a description and no photo, or with use_for game. The model's sourceUrl is set when it exists. It cannot be resized. | Get files with the [MCP export_model tool](https://creations3d.com/docs/mcp) or on the website. The [REST API](https://creations3d.com/docs/api) returns the GLB link only. ### Size and units - `target_size` with `units` (mm, cm or m) sets the largest side. "target_size 50, units mm" gives a GLB whose largest side is 0.05 m and an STL whose largest side is 50 mm. - The model's `dimensions` field gives x, y and z with their units; export results give the dimensions of that file. - Resizing a finished model on the website is free and makes new files at the new size. ### Triangles and textures The default triangle budget and texture size depend on use_for. Pass max_triangles or texture_size to change them. | use_for | Triangles | Texture (pixels) | | --- | --- | --- | | web | 50,000 | 1024 | | game | 5,000 | 1024 | | print | 200,000 | 1024 | | render | 500,000 | 2048 | - max_triangles accepts 1,000 to 500,000; texture_size accepts 512, 1024 or 2048. - export_model can also make a lighter GLB with its own max_triangles. - STL, 3MF and OBJ are refused for meshes above 500,000 triangles. A successfully repaired STL or 3MF has at most 300,000. ### Print repair and the print report STL and 3MF exports try to rebuild the surface as one closed solid at your size, add a flat base (turn it off with flat_base false), and then check the file that was written. If the repair does not pass every check, you get the original surface with `repairSucceeded` false and a warning to check it in your slicer. The export result carries a `printReport`: | Field | Meaning | | --- | --- | | `repairSucceeded` | true when every check below passed on the file that was written. false means the original surface was exported instead, with a warning to check it in your slicer. | | `watertight` | Every edge is shared by exactly two triangles, so the surface is closed. | | `bodies` | Number of separate solids. 1 after a successful repair. | | `boundaryEdges, nonManifoldEdges` | Open edges and edges shared by more than two triangles. 0 after a successful repair. | | `inconsistentEdges, nonManifoldVertices` | Flipped faces and pinched vertices. 0 after a successful repair. | | `volume` | Enclosed volume in cubic millimetres. | | `grounded, flatBaseCreated` | The model sits on Z = 0, with a flat base when flat_base is on. | | `meanDeviationPercent, sampledHausdorffPercent` | How far the repaired surface moved, as a percentage of the model's size. The second is a sampled lower bound, not a certified maximum. | | `note` | A plain sentence. After a successful repair it says the solid was verified and that wall thickness and overhangs were not analysed; after a failed one it tells you to inspect and repair the model in a slicer. | Wall thickness, minimum feature size, overhangs and supports are not checked. Fine details can thicken or disappear in the repair. The [ChatGPT STL for 3D printing guide](https://creations3d.com/guides/chatgpt-stl-for-3d-printing) shows our test on five real models. ### Download links - Links are signed and expire after 15 minutes. Read the model again, or export again, for a fresh link. - MCP clients can read the file itself instead, as base64, from the `resourceUri` that export_model returns. - There are no public file URLs: a link without a valid signature does not work. Fields, examples and error codes. ## REST API reference C3D-DOCS-03 · REV A [Docs](https://creations3d.com/docs) · Updated 28 October 2026 **The Creations3D REST API lets a script create, read, list and delete 3D models and read its credits, with a personal API key (sent as `Authorization: Bearer c3d_sk_...`).** The base URL is `https://creations3d.com`, requests and responses are JSON, and models build in the background: create returns `202`, then you poll until the status is ready. To export STL, 3MF, OBJ or FBX, use the [MCP server](https://creations3d.com/docs/mcp) or the website; the REST model response links the GLB. ### Authentication 1. Sign in on the website and open Account, API keys. 2. Create a key. It starts with c3d_sk_ and is shown once, so store it as a secret. 3. Send it on every request: `Authorization: Bearer c3d_sk_...` Keys act as your account and use its credits. They can only be created, listed and revoked on the website: the key endpoints refuse API keys. A request with no valid key gets `401` with `{ "error": "Sign in to continue." }`. ### Endpoints | Method and path | What it does | | --- | --- | | `POST /api/generations` | Create a model. 202 with the model. | | `GET /api/generations/{id}` | Read one model. 200 with the model. | | `GET /api/generations?limit=50` | List your models, newest first. limit 1 to 100, default 50. | | `DELETE /api/generations/{id}` | Delete a finished model and its files. 204. | | `GET /api/account` | Credits, plan and the credit cost of each kind of model. | ### POST /api/generations Send JSON, or `multipart/form-data` with an `image` file. Credits are taken when the request is accepted and go back automatically if the build fails. | Field | Type | Notes | | --- | --- | --- | | `prompt` | string | What to build, up to 1,000 characters. Send a prompt, an image, or both. | | `imageUrl` | string | JSON only: a public HTTPS image URL or a data URL (PNG, JPEG or WebP, under 10 MB). | | `image` | file | Multipart only: the photo to build from. | | `use_for` | web \| game \| print \| render | Default web. | | `style` | string | Optional, up to 200 characters. | | `target_size` | number | Size of the largest side, in units. Positive, at most 1,000,000. | | `units` | mm \| cm \| m | Default m. | | `max_triangles` | integer | 1,000 to 500,000. Defaults depend on use_for (see the MCP reference). | | `texture_size` | 512 \| 1024 \| 2048 | Texture size in pixels. | | `quad` | boolean | Ask for a quad mesh. Over REST it takes effect only with use_for game; then sourceUrl links the original quad FBX. Other use_for values ignore it. | | `preview_only` | boolean | Make a preview first and stop: 1 credit for a description, free for a photo (up to 5 photo drafts at a time). A photo preview still needs the full photo model cost (6 credits) in your balance, or it returns 402. | | `continue_id` | string | Build the 3D model from a preview made with preview_only. Charges only the rest of the full cost. | JSON request: ``` curl -X POST https://creations3d.com/api/generations \ -H "Authorization: Bearer $CREATIONS3D_API_KEY" \ -H "Content-Type: application/json" \ -d '{"prompt":"bronze lantern","use_for":"render","target_size":320,"units":"mm"}' ``` Photo upload: ``` curl -X POST https://creations3d.com/api/generations \ -H "Authorization: Bearer $CREATIONS3D_API_KEY" \ -F image=@shoe.jpg \ -F use_for=web -F target_size=0.3 -F units=m ``` Response (shortened): ``` HTTP/1.1 202 Accepted { "id": "aBc123...", "status": "queued", "mode": "text", "useFor": "render", "title": "Bronze Lantern", "prompt": "bronze lantern", "format": "glb", "modelUrl": null, "previewUrl": null, "pageUrl": "https://creations3d.com/models/aBc123...", "creditsUsed": 8, "error": null, "retryable": true, "retryAfterSeconds": 5, ... } ``` Costs: 8 credits for a standard model (web, print or render), 4 for use_for game, 6 for a model from a photo. ### GET /api/generations/{id} Poll every 5 seconds or so until `status` is `ready` or `failed`. A model usually takes about 1.5 minutes once it starts, and at most two per account are built at once. When it is ready, `modelUrl` is a signed GLB link that expires after 15 minutes; read the model again for a fresh one. ``` curl https://creations3d.com/api/generations/aBc123... \ -H "Authorization: Bearer $CREATIONS3D_API_KEY" ``` The model has the same fields as in the [MCP reference](https://creations3d.com/docs/mcp): `id`, `status` (queued, processing, preview, ready or failed), `mode`, `useFor`, `title`, `prompt`, `format`, `modelUrl`, `previewUrl`, `pageUrl`, `sourceUrl`, `sourceFormat`, `dimensions`, `triangles`, `fileSizeBytes`, `creditsUsed`, `error`, `retryable`, `retryAfterSeconds`, `createdAt` and `completedAt`. The status is preview only for models made with preview_only. ### GET /api/generations Returns `{ models: [...] }`, newest first. There is no cursor in REST; the `list_models` MCP tool pages through a longer library. ### DELETE /api/generations/{id} Deletes the model and every file made from it, then returns `204`. A model that is still queued or being built returns `409`: wait for it to finish first. ### GET /api/account Returns `credits`, `plan`, `subscriptionStatus`, `periodEnd`, `creditPools`, `trialEligible`, `pendingCheckout` and `costs` (credits per kind of model). Plans are started on the [pricing page](https://creations3d.com/pricing), never through the API. ### Errors Errors are JSON with an `error` sentence. Some also carry extra fields, such as `retryable` and `retryAfterSeconds`, so read them when present and do not rely on them. A 402 for too few credits looks like this: ``` HTTP/1.1 402 Payment Required { "error": "This needs 8 credits; you have 3." } ``` | Status | Meaning | | --- | --- | | 400 | Invalid input, for example "Invalid generation options." or "Provide a prompt or reference image." | | 401 | Missing or invalid API key. | | 402 | Not enough credits. A free photo preview (preview_only) also needs the full photo model cost (6 credits) in your balance. | | 404 | "Model not found." The id is wrong or belongs to another account. | | 409 | The model is still being built (delete), or a preview is not ready to continue. | | 413 | The request is over 16 MB. | | 500 | "Something went wrong. Try again in a moment." | New to the API? Prompts, credit costs and limits. ## How to generate a 3D model in Claude C3D-GUIDE-01 · REV A [Guides](https://creations3d.com/guides) · By the Creations3D team · Published 28 October 2026 **To generate a 3D model in Claude, add Creations3D as a custom connector, then ask Claude for the object with a size**, for example "a low-poly treasure chest, 1 m wide, for my game". Claude calls the Creations3D `create_model` tool, and about 1.5 minutes later the chat has a GLB file at that size, with STL and 3MF exports for 3D printing. Claude cannot make a 3D file on its own; the connector does the building. ### What do I need before I start? - Claude on the web or the desktop app, with room for a custom connector (Anthropic's help article says the Free plan allows one). On Team and Enterprise plans an owner adds it once under Organization settings, then everyone clicks Connect. - A Creations3D account with credits. New accounts start with a $1, 7-day trial with 40 credits. See [pricing](https://creations3d.com/pricing) for the plans. - The connector address: `https://creations3d.com/mcp` ### How do I add Creations3D to Claude? Setup takes about 2 minutes and needs no API key: you sign in with your Creations3D email. 1. In Claude, open **Customize**, then **Connectors**. 2. Click **+ Add**, then **Add custom connector**, and name it Creations3D. 3. Paste `https://creations3d.com/mcp` and click **Continue**. Keep the recommended sign-in options, click **Continue** again and sign in with your Creations3D email. 4. In a chat, click **+**, then **Connectors**, and switch Creations3D on. The [Claude connector setup guide](https://creations3d.com/connect/claude) has the same steps with drawings of each screen. Anthropic's own steps are in [Getting started with custom connectors](https://support.claude.com/en/articles/11175166-getting-started-with-custom-connectors-using-remote-mcp). ### What should I type to get a good model? Name one object, its style and its real size, and say what it is for. The size sets the largest side of the model, so "a 50 mm chibi dragon to print" gives an STL whose longest side is 50 mm. - "Make a low-poly sci-fi crate for my game, about 60 cm." - "A 50 mm chibi dragon figurine for my printer. Give me the STL." - "A bronze lantern, 320 mm tall, detailed enough for a product render." - "Make these four as one batch: an oak tree 4 m, a rock 0.8 m, a bench 1.5 m, a lamp post 3 m." Claude turns your words into the tool's settings: `use_for` (web, game, print or render), `target_size` with `units` (mm, cm or m), an optional `style`, and for game assets an optional triangle budget (`max_triangles`, 1,000 to 500,000) and texture size (512, 1024 or 2048). You can ask for up to 20 models in one batch. From a chat, a description goes straight to a 3D model; there is no preview picture step. To build from a photo instead, give Claude a public HTTPS link to the image. ### How many credits does a model cost? | What you ask for | Credits | What you get | | --- | --- | --- | | Game-ready model (use_for: game) | 4 | A light GLB in metres, sized to the largest side | | Standard model (web, print or render) | 8 | GLB in metres, with STL and 3MF exports in millimetres | | Model from a photo | 6 | The photographed object as a GLB, with the same exports | | Resizing, or exporting to STL, 3MF or OBJ | 0 | A new file from a model you already made | The 40-credit trial covers about 5 standard models or 10 game-ready ones. If a build fails, its credits go back to your account automatically. Ask Claude "how many Creations3D credits do I have?" and it reads your balance with the `account` tool. Plans are started on the website, never from the chat. ### How do I get the file out of Claude? When the model is ready, Claude gives you a signed download link, and where your Claude app supports interactive tool views it also shows the model in a 3D viewer in the chat. Ask for the format you need: "export it as STL", "3MF please" or "a GLB under 20,000 triangles". Print files are in millimetres and are automatically repaired, and the export comes with a print report. Download links expire after 15 minutes, so if one has expired just ask Claude for a fresh link. Every model also appears in your Creations3D library on the website. ### What are the limits? - A model usually takes about 1.5 minutes once it starts. Queueing can add a few minutes, and at most two models per account are built at once. - GLB files use metres; STL and 3MF use millimetres. - Wall thickness and print overhangs are not checked. Check thin parts in your slicer before a long print. - USDZ is not available. - Commercial use is allowed on every plan, the trial included. ### Can I do the same in Claude Code or another assistant? Yes. The same account, library and credits work from [Claude Code](https://creations3d.com/connect/claude-code) (one terminal command), [ChatGPT](https://creations3d.com/connect/chatgpt) (see [making an STL for 3D printing in ChatGPT](https://creations3d.com/guides/chatgpt-stl-for-3d-printing)), [Codex](https://creations3d.com/connect/codex) and [Cursor](https://creations3d.com/connect/cursor). In a coding agent you can ask it to save the GLB straight into your project; the [three.js GLB guide](https://creations3d.com/guides/threejs-glb-from-text) shows how to load it. Agents that read documentation can start at the [Creations3D docs](https://creations3d.com/docs). No rescaling, with the exact prompt and code. ## three.js-ready GLB from a text description C3D-GUIDE-02 · REV A [Guides](https://creations3d.com/guides) · By the Creations3D team · Published 28 October 2026 **To get a three.js-ready GLB from a text description, describe the object with its real size in Creations3D and download the GLB**: it comes in metres, sized so the largest side matches what you asked for, so it drops into a three.js scene at the right scale with `GLTFLoader` and no rescaling. You can make it on the website, from a coding agent such as Claude Code, Codex or Cursor, or with one REST call. ### Why does the size matter in three.js? three.js has no fixed unit, but glTF does: the [glTF 2.0 specification](https://registry.khronos.org/glTF/specs/2.0/glTF-2.0.html) says all linear distances are in metres, and most three.js scenes, physics engines and WebXR treat one unit as one metre. A model exported at an arbitrary scale has to be measured and scaled by hand before it fits next to other assets. Creations3D writes the GLB in metres at your target size, so a crate you asked for at 60 cm is 0.6 units on its longest side. ### What is the fastest way to get the GLB into my project? From a coding agent. Connect Creations3D once ([Claude Code](https://creations3d.com/connect/claude-code), [Codex](https://creations3d.com/connect/codex) or [Cursor](https://creations3d.com/connect/cursor), about a minute each), then ask: `Make a low-poly sci-fi crate, about 60 cm, and put the GLB in public/models` The agent calls `create_model` with `use_for: "game"` and `target_size: 0.6`, waits about 1.5 minutes, then saves the file where you said. You can ask for up to 20 assets in one batch, set a triangle budget (`max_triangles`, 1,000 to 500,000) and a texture size (512, 1024 or 2048). The MCP address is `https://creations3d.com/mcp`. ### How do I load it in three.js? Use the standard glTF loader. Because the file is already in metres, you add it to the scene as it is: ``` import * as THREE from "three"; import { GLTFLoader } from "three/addons/loaders/GLTFLoader.js"; const loader = new GLTFLoader(); loader.load("/models/crate.glb", (gltf) => { scene.add(gltf.scene); // Check the size: the largest side matches the size you asked for, in metres. const size = new THREE.Box3().setFromObject(gltf.scene).getSize(new THREE.Vector3()); console.log(size); // e.g. { x: 0.6, y: 0.48, z: 0.42 } for "about 60 cm" }); ``` The loader is documented in the [three.js GLTFLoader docs](https://threejs.org/docs/#examples/en/loaders/GLTFLoader). If you use React Three Fiber, `useGLTF` from drei loads the same file. ### Which settings should I pick for the web? | Setting | Credits | Use it for | | --- | --- | --- | | use_for: game | 4 | Light GLBs for games, many objects on screen, mobile browsers | | use_for: web | 8 | A single hero object, product viewers, model-viewer embeds | | use_for: render | 8 | The most detail, for stills and close-ups | | GLB export with max_triangles | 0 | A lighter copy of a model you already made, for example under 20,000 triangles | Building from a photo instead of words costs 6 credits. Failed builds refund their credits automatically. Plans and the trial are on [pricing](https://creations3d.com/pricing). ### Can I do it from a script or a build step? Yes. Create an API key in your account (Account, API keys) and call the REST API. The same key works for the MCP server in tools without browser sign-in. ``` curl -X POST https://creations3d.com/api/generations \ -H "Authorization: Bearer $CREATIONS3D_API_KEY" \ -H "Content-Type: application/json" \ -d '{"prompt":"low-poly sci-fi crate","use_for":"game","target_size":0.6,"units":"m"}' ``` Then poll `GET https://creations3d.com/api/generations/{id}` until it is ready and download the GLB. Download links are signed and expire after 15 minutes; asking again gives a fresh one. Every endpoint is listed in the [REST API reference](https://creations3d.com/docs/api). ### What should I check before shipping the model? - Measure it once with `Box3` as above; the largest side should match your target size. - Check the triangle count for your target devices and export a lighter GLB with `max_triangles` if needed. - Commercial use is allowed on every plan, the trial included, so the asset can ship in a paid game or product. - Need it printed as well? The same model exports to STL or 3MF in millimetres; see [making a model in Claude](https://creations3d.com/guides/generate-3d-model-in-claude) for the print options. Prompts and credits. ## How to make an STL for 3D printing with ChatGPT C3D-GUIDE-03 · REV A [Guides](https://creations3d.com/guides) · By the Creations3D team · Published 28 October 2026 **To get a printable STL from ChatGPT, connect Creations3D to ChatGPT, then ask for the object with its size in millimetres**, for example "a 50 mm chibi dragon figurine, give me the STL". About 1.5 minutes later ChatGPT has a download link for an STL at that size with a flat base, automatically repaired, plus a print report that says whether the repair produced one closed solid. 3MF works the same way. ### Can ChatGPT make an STL file on its own? Only for simple geometric parts. ChatGPT can write code, such as OpenSCAD, for a box, a bracket or a spacer, which you then render to STL yourself. It cannot sculpt an organic shape like a figurine, a pot with a pattern or a character. Creations3D adds that: ChatGPT sends your description to Creations3D, which builds the model and hands back the file. ### How do I connect Creations3D to ChatGPT? Setup takes about 3 minutes, on the ChatGPT website. On a work plan your admin may need to allow custom servers. 1. Go to **chatgpt.com/plugins**, click **Add**, then **Add custom MCP server**. 2. Name it Creations3D. Under **Connection** keep **Server URL** and paste `https://creations3d.com/mcp`. 3. Keep **OAuth**, tick **I understand and want to continue** and click **Create as a plugin**. Then click **Connect Creations3D**, sign in with your Creations3D email and click **Allow access**. 4. Start a new chat, type **@** and pick Creations3D. The [ChatGPT connection guide](https://creations3d.com/connect/chatgpt) has the same steps with a screenshot of each screen. OpenAI's own steps are in [Connect a custom MCP server to ChatGPT](https://developers.openai.com/plugins/deploy/connect-chatgpt). You also need a Creations3D account with credits: new accounts start with a $1, 7-day trial with 40 credits. ### What should I ask for? Name one object, give its size in millimetres and say it is for printing. The size sets the largest side of the model, so "80 mm tall" gives an STL whose longest side is 80 mm. You do not need to scale it in your slicer. - "A 50 mm chibi dragon figurine for my printer. Give me the STL." - "A small succulent planter with a hexagon pattern, 90 mm wide, as a 3MF." - "A 60 mm desk figure of a knight with a round base, STL please." - "Make three chess pieces for printing: king 95 mm, queen 85 mm, rook 60 mm." ChatGPT turns this into the tool's settings: `use_for` set to print, `target_size` with `units` in mm, and an optional `style`. You can ask for up to 20 models in one batch. From a chat, a description goes straight to a 3D model; there is no preview picture step. To print an object from a photo, give ChatGPT a public HTTPS link to the image. ### What does the STL look like when it arrives? - Millimetres, at the size you asked for, measured on the largest side. - Automatically repaired. When the repair passes its checks (the print report says so), it is one closed, watertight solid: no holes, no loose floating parts and no inside-out faces. - A flat base sitting on the build plate. Ask for "no flat base" if you want the original underside. - Up to 300,000 triangles, which slicers open quickly. - STL has no units in the file, so ours is written in millimetres: import it as millimetres. 3MF stores the units, so slicers such as Bambu Studio and PrusaSlicer read the size from the file. - A print report with the checks that passed and how far the surface moved during repair. If a repair ever fails, the report says so and tells you to check the file in your slicer. Repair can thicken very small details or close tiny gaps, so check fine parts such as thin swords or antennae in the slicer preview. Wall thickness, overhangs and supports are not checked: your slicer still decides those. ### How well does the repair work? We ran the repair on five real models, exported as STL at 120 mm, and checked each written file with an independent mesh checker: | Model | Separate bodies before | After | Closed (watertight) | Triangles | | --- | --- | --- | --- | --- | | Dragon figurine | 28 | 1 | yes | 212,716 | | Desk planter | 2 | 1 | yes | 247,096 | | Low-poly chest | 1 | 1 | yes | 170,492 | | Rotary telephone | 25 | 1 | yes | 103,700 | | Oak tree | 161 | 1 | yes | 264,896 | All five came out at exactly 120 mm on the largest side with a flat base. The surface moved by about 0.5 to 0.65% of the model's size on average, which is why fine details can thicken. This was our own test on 22 October 2026, not an outside certification. The report that came with the planter's STL: ``` "printReport": { "watertight": true, "bodies": 1, "boundaryEdges": 0, "nonManifoldEdges": 0, "grounded": true, "flatBaseCreated": true, "volume": 418239.18, "repairSucceeded": true, "note": "Verified one closed, consistently oriented solid with positive volume. Wall thickness and overhangs not analysed." } ``` ![A desk planter model on the Creations3D website, with GLB, STL, 3MF and OBJ downloads and its size in metres](https://creations3d.com/guides/website-print-exports.webp) The same exports on the Creations3D website (screenshot from 20 October 2026). Every model made in ChatGPT also appears in your library there. ### How many credits does it cost? | What you ask for | Credits | | --- | --- | | A model from a description | 8 | | A model from a photo | 6 | | Another size, or the same model as STL, 3MF, OBJ or GLB | 0 | The 40-credit trial covers about 5 printable models. If a build fails, its credits go back automatically. Re-exporting at a new size is free, so you can print a 40 mm test before the 120 mm version. See [pricing](https://creations3d.com/pricing) for the monthly plans. Plans are started on the website, never from the chat. ### How do I download the file? ChatGPT gives you a signed download link. Links expire after 15 minutes, so if one has expired, ask ChatGPT for a fresh link. Every model is also saved in your Creations3D library on the website, where you can download it again in any format. ### Can I do this from Claude or a coding agent instead? Yes. The same account, library and credits work in [Claude](https://creations3d.com/connect/claude), [Claude Code](https://creations3d.com/connect/claude-code), [Codex](https://creations3d.com/connect/codex) and [Cursor](https://creations3d.com/connect/cursor). Where each wins. ## Meshy MCP alternative (2026): Creations3D compared C3D-GUIDE-04 · REV A [Guides](https://creations3d.com/guides) · By the Creations3D team · Published 28 October 2026 · Updated 28 October 2026 **If you want 3D models from an AI assistant without running a local server or handling an API key, Creations3D is a hosted alternative to the Meshy MCP server**: you add one URL, `https://creations3d.com/mcp`, and sign in in the browser, and print files come out in millimetres at the size you asked for. Meshy is the better pick if you want a free plan, rigging and animation, wall thickening for printing, or USDZ: its MCP server has far more tools. This page compares the two, with sources. Disclosure: Creations3D makes this page, so we are comparing our own product with a competitor. Every Meshy fact links to Meshy's own page, read on 28 October 2026. Prices change; check them before you buy. ### How do the two MCP servers connect? Meshy's MCP server is an npm package that runs on your computer and reads a Meshy API key from the `MESHY_API_KEY` environment variable. Meshy says the key "requires a Pro plan or above" and that its MCP page "does not provide a hosted MCP URL" ([meshy.ai/mcp](https://www.meshy.ai/mcp)). Its docs give this Claude Code command ([docs.meshy.ai/api/ai](https://docs.meshy.ai/api/ai)): `claude mcp add meshy --env MESHY_API_KEY=msy_YOUR_API_KEY -- npx -y @meshy-ai/meshy-mcp-server` The Creations3D server is remote, so nothing is installed and there is no key to paste; Claude Code signs you in through the browser after: `claude mcp add --transport http --scope user creations3d https://creations3d.com/mcp` The remote URL also works where a local server cannot run, such as Claude on the web or ChatGPT. Meshy says ChatGPT users go through its existing app in ChatGPT's app directory instead ([meshy.ai/mcp](https://www.meshy.ai/mcp)). ### Side by side | | Meshy MCP | Creations3D MCP | | --- | --- | --- | | How it runs | Local npm package (stdio) | Hosted URL (Streamable HTTP) | | Sign-in | Meshy API key in an environment variable | Browser sign-in, or an API key for scripts | | Plan needed for MCP | Pro ($20 a month) or above | Any plan, including the $1 7-day trial | | Free plan | Yes: 100 credits a month, CC BY 4.0 licence (commercial use with attribution), no API access | No; a $1 trial with 40 credits | | Monthly plans (USD) | $20, $40, $100; Studio $70 | $20, $40, $100; 50% off yearly | | MCP tools | 28 listed in the docs, including rigging, animation, remeshing, retexturing and print tools | 6: create, read, wait, list, export, account | | Formats | GLB, OBJ, FBX, STL, USDZ, 3MF, and BLEND through Convert | GLB, OBJ, STL, 3MF, and FBX for quad models. The pricing page showed us pounds; the US dollar prices above are the ones the same page publishes in its structured data. ### What does a model cost? Meshy's API price list charges 20 credits for a text-to-3D mesh and 10 more to texture it, and 20 to 35 for image-to-3D on its latest model. Its docs say MCP calls "use credits at the same rate", and that API credits are bought in your subscription settings before you send requests ([API pricing](https://docs.meshy.ai/api/pricing)). Meshy's Pro plan lists 1,000 credits a month. On Creations3D a standard textured model costs 8 credits, a game-ready one 4 and one from a photo 6; exports, resizing and print repair are free. The Creator plan at $20 a month includes 160 credits. The two credit systems are not the same unit, so compare the cost of the models you actually need. See [pricing](https://creations3d.com/pricing). ### Where Meshy wins - A free plan, with commercial use if you credit Meshy. Creations3D has no free plan. - Far more tools: rigging, animation, remeshing, retexturing, multi-image to 3D, text to image, and print tools that split models or make multi-colour 3MF. - Wall thickening for printing: Meshy's repair can thicken walls that are too thin at your print size. Ours does not check wall thickness. - USDZ export for Apple AR Quick Look. Creations3D has no USDZ. - A listing in ChatGPT's app directory, and install steps for more local clients (Windsurf and VS Code among them). ### Where Creations3D wins - One hosted URL with browser sign-in: no Node install, no key in a config file, and it works in web apps such as Claude on the web and ChatGPT. - MCP on every plan, including the $1 trial. Meshy needs Pro or above for API and MCP access. - Real size from the first request: say "50 mm" and the STL is 50 mm on its largest side. No separate resize step. - Every STL and 3MF export gets an automatic repair at no extra cost, and the print report says whether it produced one closed solid. In our own test, five real models with up to 161 separate parts each came out as one closed body ([details](https://creations3d.com/guides/chatgpt-stl-for-3d-printing)). - Commercial use on every plan, the trial included. ### Which should I pick? - Pick Meshy if you need animation or rigging, USDZ, wall thickening, or want to start free. - Pick Creations3D if you want 3D models from Claude, ChatGPT or a coding agent with no local setup, at real size, with printable STL and 3MF.
