Meshy MCP alternative (2026): Creations3D compared
C3D-GUIDE-04 · REV AIf you want 3D models from an AI assistant without running a local server or handling an API key, Creations3D is a hosted alternative to the Meshy MCP server: you add one URL, https://creations3d.com/mcp, and sign in in the browser, and print files come out in millimetres at the size you asked for. Meshy is the better pick if you want a free plan, rigging and animation, wall thickening for printing, or USDZ: its MCP server has far more tools. This page compares the two, with sources.
How do the two MCP servers connect?
Meshy's MCP server is an npm package that runs on your computer and reads a Meshy API key from the MESHY_API_KEY environment variable. Meshy says the key "requires a Pro plan or above" and that its MCP page "does not provide a hosted MCP URL" (meshy.ai/mcp). Its docs give this Claude Code command (docs.meshy.ai/api/ai):
claude mcp add meshy --env MESHY_API_KEY=msy_YOUR_API_KEY -- npx -y @meshy-ai/meshy-mcp-serverThe Creations3D server is remote, so nothing is installed and there is no key to paste; Claude Code signs you in through the browser after:
claude mcp add --transport http --scope user creations3d https://creations3d.com/mcpThe remote URL also works where a local server cannot run, such as Claude on the web or ChatGPT. Meshy says ChatGPT users go through its existing app in ChatGPT's app directory instead (meshy.ai/mcp).

What does a model cost?
Meshy's API price list charges 20 credits for a text-to-3D mesh and 10 more to texture it, and 20 to 35 for image-to-3D on its latest model. Its docs say MCP calls "use credits at the same rate", and that API credits are bought in your subscription settings before you send requests (API pricing). Meshy's Pro plan lists 1,000 credits a month.
On Creations3D a standard textured model costs 8 credits, a game-ready one 4 and one from a photo 6; exports, resizing and print repair are free. The Creator plan at $20 a month includes 160 credits. The two credit systems are not the same unit, so compare the cost of the models you actually need. See pricing.
Where Meshy wins
- A free plan, with commercial use if you credit Meshy. Creations3D has no free plan.
- Far more tools: rigging, animation, remeshing, retexturing, multi-image to 3D, text to image, and print tools that split models or make multi-colour 3MF.
- Wall thickening for printing: Meshy's repair can thicken walls that are too thin at your print size. Ours does not check wall thickness.
- USDZ export for Apple AR Quick Look. Creations3D has no USDZ.
- A listing in ChatGPT's app directory, and install steps for more local clients (Windsurf and VS Code among them).
Where Creations3D wins
- One hosted URL with browser sign-in: no Node install, no key in a config file, and it works in web apps such as Claude on the web and ChatGPT.
- MCP on every plan, including the $1 trial. Meshy needs Pro or above for API and MCP access.
- Real size from the first request: say "50 mm" and the STL is 50 mm on its largest side. No separate resize step.
- Every STL and 3MF export gets an automatic repair at no extra cost, and the print report says whether it produced one closed solid. In our own test, five real models with up to 161 separate parts each came out as one closed body (details).
- Commercial use on every plan, the trial included.
Which should I pick?
- Pick Meshy if you need animation or rigging, USDZ, wall thickening, or want to start free.
- Pick Creations3D if you want 3D models from Claude, ChatGPT or a coding agent with no local setup, at real size, with printable STL and 3MF. Start with the quickstart or the MCP reference.
